Lab Operations Specialist (Omics)

Location: Aurora, Colorado, United States; laboratory-based role involving equipment management, sample storage, safety oversight, and hands-on research.

Salary: $65,000–$76,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage procurement, maintenance, decontamination, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment.
• Oversee inventory, consumables, reagents, sample storage, and the biorepository database.
• Maintain laboratory safety, biosafety, hazardous waste disposal, hygiene, and regulatory compliance programs.
• Act as a point of contact for safety audits and inspections.
• Conduct hands-on in vitro research supporting genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and other omics programs.
• Support complex multi-day experiments, operate laboratory automation equipment, and document protocols, data, analyses, and conclusions.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences field.
• 2–5 years of relevant laboratory experience, including academic, industry, or internship experience.
• Hands-on experience with molecular and cell biology techniques, including PCR, pipetting, and cell culture.
• Familiarity with laboratory safety and biosafety practices, including BSL-1 or BSL-2.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, or metabolomics workflows.
• Experience operating liquid handlers or other laboratory automation systems.
• Experience with LIMS, biorepository databases, or GLP environments.
• Prior experience in a startup or small-team laboratory setting.
