TL;DR
Business Development Manager (LATAM) (Academic Publishing/Open Research): Driving new business growth and market penetration for eBooks, journals, and Open Access programs across Brazil and Latin America with an accent on institutional sales, prospecting, and multilingual stakeholder engagement. Focus on building sustainable sales pipelines, converting academic, government, and healthcare prospects, and expanding Open Research revenue through strategic relationship development.

Location: Remote, with all candidates required to have the right to reside and work in Brazil. The role covers Brazil and Latin America and requires 50% travel for prospecting visits, sales calls, conferences, and presentations.

What you will do

  • Design and execute a 1-to-3-year sales and market penetration strategy for eBooks, journals, and Open Access across Brazil and Latin America.
  • Drive new business acquisition and Open Research revenue by identifying, engaging, and converting prospects.
  • Build and maintain a sustainable sales pipeline while achieving and exceeding annual territory targets.
  • Develop professional networks with academic institutions, government agencies, healthcare organizations, funders, and research centers.
  • Conduct sales calls, prospecting visits, conferences, and presentations to promote Taylor & Francis Group's Open Research programs.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers and establish Taylor & Francis as a preferred Open Research partner.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of successful new business development and hunter-focused sales experience.
  • Proven success exceeding sales targets and converting prospects into customers.
  • Strong understanding of academic publishing, the Open Research landscape, and the wider book trade.
  • Experience with open access, journal, and eBook sales in academic library markets is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English is required, including business negotiations and presentations in all three languages.
  • Strong consultative sales, commercial, analytical, prioritization, and independent working skills.

  • Experience selling open access, journals, and eBooks to academic libraries.
