Network/Systems Engineer 3 (Implementation/Activation Network Systems Engineer) (Palo Alto/F5)

Location: US-Remote; quarterly travel to four designated co-location facilities is required, with additional travel as needed.

Salary: $81,850–$106,400 annually.

What you will do

• Manage logistics, receiving, staging, installation, activation, maintenance, replacement, and disposition of enterprise network and security equipment.
• Install and validate routers, switches, firewalls, F5 platforms, management appliances, cabling, power, and physical connectivity in data center and enterprise environments.
• Validate IP addressing, VLANs, routing prerequisites, device reachability, monitoring, telemetry, and remote management access.
• Perform hardware lifecycle activities, refreshes, replacements, RMA support, preventative maintenance, and post-maintenance verification.
• Provide Tier IV troubleshooting, packet analysis, root-cause analysis, and technical support for hardware, cabling, power, connectivity, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.
• Maintain rack elevations, port maps, cable records, asset documentation, SOPs, runbooks, test plans, and change-control records.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or a related technical discipline, with 5–8 years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for education.
• Enterprise network engineering experience covering installation, rack mounting, cabling, activation, maintenance, lifecycle management, and data center infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of OSI, Ethernet, TCP/IP, IP addressing, VLANs, routing, switching, optics, and copper/fiber cabling.
• Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, F5 load balancing/application delivery, routing, switching, or related network edge platforms.
• Proficiency with Wireshark or comparable packet-analysis tools and the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Must be able to pass a government Tier 4 High Background Investigation and support quarterly travel to designated co-location facilities.

Nice to have

• Government contracting or large federal enterprise experience.
• Experience with asset reconciliation, inventory, sparing, RMA, lifecycle management, and data center operations.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity architecture, segmentation, security baselines, and compliance controls.
• CCNA, Network+, Security+, F5, Palo Alto, or other relevant networking and data center certifications.
