Senior Software Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: Remote within the United States for residents of CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Hybrid work is available from offices in Austin, Texas, or Tampa, Florida. hirify.global cannot hire within the city limits of Chicago. Onsite interviews may be required.

Salary: $140,000–$220,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, or New York.

What you will do

• Develop and improve large-scale backend services and software applications using Kotlin and Java.
• Design scalable solutions for the Mobile Device Management product suite across iOS, Android, Chrome OS, and Windows.
• Implement design patterns and ship enterprise software supporting millions of endpoints.
• Build and operate microservices deployed on ECS and AWS.
• Develop asynchronous, client-server, and responsive messaging solutions.
• Use AI-powered multi-agent tools to accelerate software delivery and reduce boilerplate.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Kotlin or Java software development experience for product applications or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience with highly scalable software systems.
• Strong Kotlin expertise and knowledge of object-oriented design principles.
• Experience with API best practices, REST services, and Spring Boot.
• Expertise in relational database design, RabbitMQ, microservices, ECS, and AWS.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Kafka.
• Experience with Redis and caching systems.
• Exposure to DevOps practices and tooling.
