Engineering Manager (AI)

Base salary: $220,000–$450,000 per year, plus incentive compensation, equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.

What you will do

• Grow and develop a high-performing engineering team, including mentoring engineers and supporting career progression.
• Set the technical and strategic direction for the Events Analytics Platform while balancing system stability with architectural evolution.
• Build analytical platform capabilities including complex queries, dynamic routing across fidelity levels, storage and compute separation, and modern analytical storage patterns.
• Scale the platform to support AI agents, MCP servers, and the unification of errors, transactions, spans, profiles, replays, and metrics.
• Lead incident response, postmortems, and scaling efforts while promoting operational excellence.
• Partner with Product Engineering, Streaming, Production Engineering, Security, and Compliance.

Requirements

• 10+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
• 4+ years of people management experience, including career development and performance management.
• Strong technical background in data platforms, storage systems, or analytical backends such as ClickHouse, Pinot, or Druid.
• Experience with distributed systems, query optimization, or scaling data-intensive workloads.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Nice to have

• Proficiency with Python, Rust, or a similar programming language.
• Familiarity with observability, developer tools, or event-driven systems.
