Heavy Equipment Operator I (Hazardous Waste)

What you will do

• Safely operate light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill.
• Assist with truck off-loading and waste unloading.
• Operate equipment to stabilize and handle waste and process treated materials and containers.
• Sample post-treated materials for laboratory testing.
• Load cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfills or disposal facilities.
• Perform preventative equipment maintenance, vehicle checks, housekeeping, and related duties.

Requirements

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use applicable hand and power tools.
• Basic vehicle inspection and maintenance knowledge, including checking tire pressure, oil, and water levels.
• Accuracy, thoroughness, attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.
• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with an 8-hour refresher, or ability to complete the course after hire, is required for Environmental Solutions positions.
