What you will do

  • Perform customer-site hazardous waste technician duties, including waste handling, sampling, classification, and preparation for shipment and disposal.
  • Prepare and verify hazardous waste shipping documentation and coordinate pickups with customers, transporters, the ChemCare office, and treatment, storage, and disposal facilities.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, rounds, readings, and environmental compliance activities.
  • Load and unload chemical tankers, pump outdoor sumps, lubricate and maintain equipment, and complete other operational maintenance.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and shift activities while communicating issues to management for escalation.
  • Follow site-specific safety procedures, use required PPE including Tyvek suits and respirators, and work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of related operations or facilities experience preferred.
  • Detailed working knowledge of RCRA, DOT, and EPA regulations, including hazardous waste classification.
  • Ability to learn and apply hazardous materials and waste-handling procedures.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Customer service, communication, teamwork, and ability to stand for extended periods.

Nice to have

  • College-level background in chemistry, biology, environmental science, or comparable experience.
  • CHMM, RCRA, DOT, or related certifications and endorsements.
