CloudOps Lead (AWS)

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of CloudOps engineers, including performance management, career development, engagement, and resource planning.
• Manage the on-call rota and operational readiness for 24/7 support.
• Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code solutions with Terraform and Ansible, and automate AWS provisioning, configuration, and scaling.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
• Monitor and troubleshoot cloud services, improve uptime and performance, and drive incident resolution and cloud cost optimisation.
• Develop disaster recovery, backup, security, governance, documentation, and L2 application support practices in collaboration with Service Management, Engineering, DevOps, QA, Product, and Development teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in CloudOps, DevOps, or SRE roles with strong leadership capabilities.
• Experience with cloud architecture, preferably AWS, Linux environments, and containerisation frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python or a similar programming language.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD automation.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience working in fast-paced, distributed teams.
• Eligibility for a DBS check and UK Security Clearance is required. UK visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting client-facing systems in the public sector or healthcare.
• Familiarity with secure systems handling sensitive data.
• A proactive approach to identifying operational improvements.
