Cloud Engineer (AWS/Azure)

Location: Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, with hybrid working available. Collaboration spans APAC, Europe, and the Americas across different time zones. A separate vacancy is available in Kansas City, United States.

Salary: AUD 170,000–180,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and manage secure, highly available infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Build cloud networking across VPCs, VNets, subnets, DNS, routing, VPNs, Direct Connect, and ExpressRoute.
• Configure firewalls and security controls, including Palo Alto, security groups, NACLs, and Azure NSGs.
• Maintain infrastructure-as-code with AWS CDK and TypeScript while improving automation standards.
• Support cloud migration, CI/CD infrastructure, monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and complex technical troubleshooting.

Requirements

• At least five years of commercial experience with AWS, Azure, or multi-cloud infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, including VPCs, VNets, subnets, DNS, routing, and private connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with firewalls and cloud security controls.
• Commercial infrastructure-as-code experience with AWS CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or comparable tools.
• Experience supporting CI/CD environments using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
• Strong scripting skills with Python, Bash, or PowerShell, plus effective troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Palo Alto firewall experience and expertise with AWS CDK and TypeScript.
• Hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, zero-trust, network segmentation, and private networking experience.
• AWS Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure certifications.
• Experience with CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and Prometheus.
