Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Fully remote for applicants with the legal right to work in the UK; an office is available in Scotland.

Salary: £60,000–£75,000 per annum, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Own and improve AWS infrastructure, including EC2, VPCs, load balancing, and networking services.
• Administer business-critical Linux production environments and support application and database platforms including nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible, alongside automation using Python and Bash.
• Improve CI/CD, release, deployment, monitoring, alerting, CDN, and WAF capabilities using tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines, Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom, New Relic, Akamai, and Cloudflare.
• Lead investigations of complex infrastructure incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventative improvements.
• Contribute to capacity planning, performance, disaster resilience, security, cost efficiency, and a shared 24/7 on-call rota.

Requirements

• At least five years of commercial experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, Cloud Engineering, or a comparable senior technical role.
• Extensive experience supporting Linux-based production environments and strong practical knowledge of AWS, EC2, VPC design, networking, and load balancing.
• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform, plus Ansible and automated provisioning or configuration management.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with Python and Bash.
• Experience with production incidents, structured root-cause investigations, CI/CD principles, and Bitbucket Pipelines or a comparable platform.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call arrangement.
