Senior DevOps and System Engineer (AWS)

Location: Fully remote; office in Dundee, Scotland. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Salary: £60,000–£75,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Own and manage AWS infrastructure, ensuring secure, stable, scalable, and well-maintained cloud platforms.
• Administer Linux production systems and troubleshoot availability and performance issues across business-critical services.
• Manage web, database, CDN, and WAF technologies including nginx, Apache, Redis, MariaDB/RDS, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Akamai, and Cloudflare.
• Build and improve infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and automate provisioning and administration with Ansible, Python, and Bash.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting using Bitbucket Pipelines, Zabbix, AWS CloudWatch, Pingdom, and New Relic.
• Lead production incident response, perform root-cause analysis, implement long-term fixes, and participate in a 24/7 on-call rota.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or senior systems administration.
• Strong commercial experience supporting Linux production environments and web application and database infrastructure.
• Hands-on AWS experience, particularly with EC2, VPC, and load balancing.
• Professional production experience with Terraform and practical knowledge of Ansible.
• Experience with Python and Bash automation, CDN/WAF technologies, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience with Akamai.
• Experience with Bitbucket Pipelines or a similar CI/CD platform.
