SUV Fleet Operations Manager (DOT Compliance)

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States. Hybrid schedule: four days per week in-office and one day remote. Applicants may work in or relocate to Portland; relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $95,000–$121,000 USD per year, depending on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What you will do

• Serve as a subject-matter expert on FMCSA, DOT, IRP/IFTA, HOS/ELD, customs, EPA, UCR, and related commercial vehicle regulations.
• Manage vehicle licensing, registration, tax filings, regulatory reporting, audits, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.
• Oversee commercial, trailer, pool, and Specialty Use Vehicle operations, including utilization, locations, maintenance, recalls, repairs, fuel cards, and vehicle reassignment.
• Design and govern CDL driver training and ELD programs, monitor compliance, and resolve complex driver issues.
• Lead accident investigations, driver evaluations, advisory board meetings, vehicle events, and cross-functional operational initiatives.
• Review invoices, billing, journal entries, cost allocations, asset documentation, and donation or disposal activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field with 5–7 years of relevant experience, or eight years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• At least two years of supervisory or team lead experience.
• Experience managing operational expenses and third-party vendor contracts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, communication, relationship-building, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available, and existing visa holders are not eligible.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and, if required, a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, commercial vehicle compliance, and driver safety practices.
• Experience with structured problem-solving, process documentation, continuous improvement, fleet management systems, and operational metrics.
