TL;DR
Staff Actuary - LTC Valuation (Long-Term Care Insurance): Developing actuarial assumptions, valuation approaches, reserve programs, and financial reporting analyses for long-term care insurance with an accent on pricing, reserving, GAAP/IFRS reporting, and risk management. Focus on conducting experience studies, maintaining actuarial models and programs, communicating analytical results, and directing special actuarial projects.

Location: Hybrid position requiring three days per week in the office at a U.S. hub location: Cedar Rapids, Baltimore, Philadelphia, or Denver. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Salary: $100,000–$125,000 annually, plus potential eligibility for an annual bonus of 12.5%.

What you will do

  • Develop actuarial assumptions and conduct experience studies for pricing, reserving, and actuarial modeling.
  • Prepare actuarial analyses supporting pricing strategies, valuation approaches, and risk management strategies.
  • Develop and maintain profit studies, non-forfeiture values, GAAP and IFRS actuarial items, reserve programs, rate files, and related procedures.
  • Prepare actuarial content for financial reports, state insurance department filings, rating agency surveys, and internal management reports.
  • Maintain actuarial programs, documentation, Sarbanes-Oxley procedures, and model validation activities.
  • Provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues, communicate research results, and direct special actuarial projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field, plus five years of relevant experience; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree plus three years of experience.
  • ASA or equivalent professional designation.
  • Strong judgment, organization, prioritization, and communication skills, including the ability to explain advanced mathematical and analytical concepts.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet time constraints while supporting individual and team objectives.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to work in the office three days per week at one of the listed U.S. hub locations.
