Mechanical Design Engineer - Advanced Engineering (Outdoor Power Equipment)

Location: Anderson, South Carolina, United States; onsite at the Innovation Center. Applicants must hold U.S. work authorization supporting long-term employment and a pathway to permanent residency. Approximately 5–10% domestic and international travel is required.

What you will do

• Develop advanced mechanical concepts for next-generation outdoor power equipment and battery-powered products.
• Create mechanisms, structures, and integrated assemblies balancing performance, durability, manufacturability, cost, and user experience.
• Use first-principles analysis, hand calculations, simulation, benchmarking, and test data to guide design decisions.
• Build, test, and iterate functional prototypes to validate assumptions, identify risks, and mature concepts.
• Define system requirements, operating methods, design trade-offs, and acceptance criteria.
• Transition production-minded designs to downstream engineering teams while communicating risks, recommendations, and project needs to cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of mechanical design experience in product development, advanced engineering, concept maturation, or innovation-focused roles.
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of mechanisms, structures, engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerance considerations.
• Experience building prototypes, developing test plans, evaluating results, and improving designs using data.
• Current U.S. work authorization that supports long-term employment and a pathway to permanent residency is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with consumer products, outdoor power equipment, power tools, or other high-volume mechanical products.
• Experience with FEA, CFD, dynamic simulation, gear design, rapid prototyping, or advanced product analysis.
• Familiarity with vibration, sound, airflow, thermal, durability, or performance testing.
• Experience with integrated electrical and mechanical systems, including motors, batteries, sensors, and control interfaces.
• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
