Mechanical Engineer (IoT)

What you will do

• Design components, enclosures, brackets, mounts, and assemblies using professional 3D CAD tools.
• Integrate cameras, PCBs, sensors, antennas, wiring, connectors, and other electronics into mechanical systems.
• Develop robust outdoor hardware with sealing, ingress protection, UV, temperature, vibration, and serviceability requirements.
• Build, assemble, test, and iterate prototypes using 3D printing, CNC machining, and other rapid-fabrication methods.
• Create production drawings, tolerances, and GD&T specifications for reliable manufacturing and assembly.
• Own components and subassemblies from requirements and concept development through validation, production release, and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• 2–5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Strong 3D CAD skills and experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings, dimensional tolerancing, tolerance stack-ups, and basic GD&T.
• Understanding of DFM/DFA and experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, sheet-metal fabrication, stamping, or CNC machining.
• Ability to build, assemble, modify, test, and troubleshoot designs while collaborating with engineers, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.

Nice to have

• Experience designing injection-molded plastic parts, formed or stamped sheet-metal components, and IP-rated or weather-resistant products.
• Experience with outdoor deployment, ruggedized enclosures, gaskets, seals, vents, cable entries, and enclosure design.
• Experience mechanically integrating cameras, optics, PCBs, sensors, antennas, connectors, or other electronics.
• Experience with 3D printing, CNC machining, laser cutting, machine shops, injection molders, or contract manufacturers.
• Experience in a hardware startup, robotics, automotive, IoT, industrial equipment, or security-camera environment; proficiency with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or another professional 3D CAD platform.
