Design Engineer III - New Product Development Engineering (Outdoor Power Equipment)

What you will do

• Own mechanical design execution for assigned components, subassemblies, and systems from concept development through production release.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks, and engineering specifications.
• Optimize designs for high-volume manufacturing, assembly efficiency, tooling capability, supplier processes, cost, reliability, and safety.
• Define and execute design verification activities, including tolerance validation, stress analysis, durability, environmental, and abuse testing.
• Resolve design issues, field failures, manufacturing concerns, engineering changes, deviations, and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Compliance, Reliability, and global suppliers during development, pilot builds, PPAP, and production ramp-up.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 4 years of design experience with consumer, industrial, or electromechanical products.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent, along with detailed drawings and GD&T.
• Experience with materials, manufacturing processes, tooling, supplier-built components, and data-driven design verification and validation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, engineering judgment, accountability, and technical communication skills.
• Up to 10% international and domestic travel is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with outdoor power equipment, power tools, small engines, or high-load electromechanical systems.
• Hands-on experience supporting pilot builds and production ramp-ups.
• Experience with global supplier collaboration and Asia-based manufacturing.
• Experience supporting UL, CSA, or ANSI compliance activities.
