Director of Manufacturing Strategy (Nuclear Energy)

Location: Santa Clara, California or remote within the United States; approximately 25% travel to supplier and manufacturing sites and hirify.global headquarters. Remote employees are expected to travel to headquarters or another designated location twice per quarter as needed.

Salary: $170,000–$2,200,000 annually.

What you will do

• Own the enterprise manufacturing strategy connecting product and deployment plans to executable manufacturing pathways.
• Lead cross-functional make-versus-buy, manufacturing footprint, capacity, cost, and industrialization analyses.
• Partner with Responsible Engineers and suppliers during first-of-a-kind builds to assess processes, manufacturability, qualification, quality controls, and production readiness.
• Identify supply-chain constraints and develop mitigation options including alternate processes, second sources, design changes, capacity investments, and selective insourcing.
• Build industrialization roadmaps from first-of-a-kind builds to repeatable low-rate and higher-rate production.
• Provide leadership with manufacturing-readiness metrics, trade studies, recommendations, and reusable planning standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, materials, aerospace, nuclear, or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, industrialization, production engineering, supplier manufacturing, operations strategy, or related hardware manufacturing, including meaningful leadership responsibility.
• Ability to evaluate manufacturing processes, tooling, qualification, yield, cycle time, throughput, capacity, quality controls, and production risk.
• Experience supporting complex, low-volume or first-of-a-kind hardware through supplier selection, development, qualification, and transition to repeatable production.
• Experience leading make-versus-buy, capacity, cost, manufacturing-footprint, or industrialization analyses with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to supplier sites, manufacturing locations, and hirify.global headquarters.

Nice to have

• MBA, master's degree in engineering, or equivalent commercial, finance, strategy, or business-development experience.
• Experience in nuclear energy, aerospace, defense, semiconductors, energy systems, advanced industrial equipment, or other regulated hardware environments.
• Experience with machining, welding, forming, casting, forging, additive manufacturing, heat treatment, coatings, nondestructive examination, or complex assembly.
• Familiarity with nuclear-quality, export-control, or other regulated supply-chain requirements.
