Senior Buyer (Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Manage procurement for direct materials, components, fabricated parts, and production-related services.
• Issue and manage purchase orders, including pricing, quantities, lead times, delivery requirements, and contractual terms.
• Source, qualify, and negotiate with suppliers while managing strategic supplier relationships and performance.
• Review MRP/ERP requirements, analyze BOMs and engineering requirements, and translate production demand into purchasing actions.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Finance on procurement, material, and schedule issues.
• Mitigate supply-chain risks, expedite critical materials, support production ramp-up, and report on spend, shortages, open orders, and supplier risks.

Requirements

• Strong procurement and sourcing experience in manufacturing environments.
• Experience with strategic supplier management, including cost, quality, lead time, capacity, and long-term supplier relationships.
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills for pricing, delivery, shortages, and supplier performance issues.
• Ability to lead cross-functional work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Finance.
• Ability to build and improve procurement processes that increase efficiency, visibility, accountability, and supply-chain reliability.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multitask in a fast-paced, changing, and ambiguous environment.

Nice to have

• Start-up or contract manufacturing experience.
• Experience procuring fabricated parts, machined components, raw materials, assemblies, and other manufacturing inputs.
• Experience scaling supplier capacity, mitigating supply-chain risks, and supporting rapid production growth.
• Technical and cross-functional experience with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.
