Forward Deployed Engineer (Aerospace and Defense)

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; travel to customer sites is required as needed.

What you will do

• Embed with Aerospace and Defense customers to understand operational needs and build software directly in their environments.
• Design, build, and test full-stack features across backend services, APIs, data models, integrations, and web interfaces.
• Integrate hirify.global with ERP, CRM, IoT, telemetry, legacy, and mission-critical systems.
• Own delivery end to end, including automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, security, and operational reliability.
• Use AI-assisted and agentic development tools and deliver AI-powered capabilities into customer environments.
• Feed field insights into the core product and roadmap while serving as a trusted technical representative to customers and partners.

Requirements

• Production experience designing, building, and shipping full-stack software with modern general-purpose programming languages.
• Substantial customer-facing experience deploying, integrating, hardening, and supporting enterprise software in customer environments.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, cloud, DevOps, security, and end-to-end ownership of delivered solutions.
• Senior-level autonomy, sound architecture judgment, and the ability to deliver under time pressure.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical audiences and comfort with ambiguity.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI-powered solutions, including model integration, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic architectures, evaluation, and testing.
• Experience in Aerospace and Defense or with asset, maintenance, MRO, and fleet-readiness management.
• Experience with enterprise asset management, field service, or maintenance-management solutions.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Agile delivery experience and experience working with globally distributed teams.
