AI Engineer

Location: North York, Ontario, Canada; hybrid work from home or the office based on business and client needs

Salary: CAD 70,000–105,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement AI and cloud solutions aligned with the platform capabilities roadmap.
• Research and pilot GenAI technologies, including AI-powered applications, RAG solutions, intelligent agents, and automation workflows.
• Create technical designs covering application functionality, solution architecture, data models, interfaces, and integrations.
• Enhance DevOps practices and tooling to increase automation, enforce software guardrails, and reduce delivery cost and risk.
• Provide post-production support, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and continuous improvement for deployed applications.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, data engineers, security and governance partners, business stakeholders, and junior team members in an Agile environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 1 year building and operating solutions on AWS.
• Hands-on experience with Python, AWS Lambda, and APIs.
• Experience developing AI bots or agents and familiarity with chatbot development, RAG techniques, and vector databases.
• Experience with DevOps culture, tools, and best practices, plus strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Must obtain Reliability Status Clearance and successfully complete required background checks before starting employment.

Nice to have

• Experience with Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases, Guardrails, Agents, or AgentCore.
• Experience with Amazon OpenSearch Service, PostgreSQL with pgvector, or other enterprise vector-search technologies.
• Experience with AWS Glue, data pipelines, PySpark, analytics workloads, or Amazon QuickSight.
• A relevant AWS certification.
