Welder I - Night Shift (Structural Steel)

What you will do

• Position, align, and weld steel parts into complete structures using blueprints, welding symbols, machinery, torches, and hand tools.
• Produce complete joint penetration welds that pass visual and ultrasonic inspection.
• Operate GMAW equipment and weld components in the flat position.
• Move steel parts safely using hoists, cranes, and other equipment.
• Inspect workpieces, measure welds, and repair welds using grinders, arc gougers, and related tools.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain steady production speed and quality.

Requirements

• Welding certification or prior welding experience with successful completion of the DIS-TRAN Steel Welder II test.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, read welding symbols, and use a tape measure.
• Experience with GMAW and the ability to produce consistent welds across various materials.
• Ability to prepare joints and produce welds according to AWS D1.1 structural steel welding code.
• Ability to use weld gauges and properly set, maintain, and troubleshoot welding equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; crane or other moving-equipment experience preferred.
