What you will do
- Perform GTAW/TIG, GMAW, and SMAW welds on carbon steel, stainless steel, and nickel alloys for nuclear-grade components.
- Fabricate precision pressure vessels, piping, and structural assemblies for modular nuclear reactor systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, engineering drawings, and WPS documentation.
- Perform visual weld inspections and coordinate dye penetrant, radiographic, and ultrasonic NDE with quality control.
- Maintain and calibrate welding equipment and select filler metals, shielding gases, and parameters according to WPS requirements.
- Mentor junior welders, enforce shop safety and 5S standards, and document weld travelers, certifications, and non-conformances.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional welding experience in manufacturing, aerospace, shipbuilding, or heavy industry.
- AWS Certified Welder certification or equivalent, with demonstrated GTAW/TIG proficiency on stainless steel and exotic alloys.
- Ability to work from complex engineering drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedure specifications.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work onsite in a shop-floor environment using appropriate PPE.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
Nice to have
- Experience with pressure vessel or code welding, including ASME Section IX, Section III, or B31.3.
- Experience in nuclear, aerospace, or other highly regulated quality environments.
- Orbital welding experience for small-diameter precision tubing.
- Experience establishing welding processes or procedures for a new manufacturing line.
- Forklift, overhead crane, or rigging certification.
