Research Associate I, Molecular Biology/Biochemistry (Genomics)

Location: Boulder, Colorado — onsite. Local candidates preferred. Applicants will be asked about current U.S. work eligibility and whether visa sponsorship may be required now or in the future.

Salary: $65,000–$80,000 base compensation per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Execute molecular biology experiments, including PCR, qPCR, buffer optimization, and next-generation sequencing sample preparation.
• Document experimental procedures, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and data management systems.
• Perform routine bioinformatic analyses using established pipelines under senior scientist guidance.
• Contribute to the development and launch of commercial enzymes and genomics products.
• Participate in team meetings, scientific discussions, and process improvement activities.

Requirements

• BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, qPCR, vector design, and gene cloning.
• Ability to follow written protocols precisely and communicate deviations clearly.
• Familiarity with basic data analysis tools, spreadsheets, and descriptive statistics.
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, self-management, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with next-generation sequencing, DNA sample preparation, and NGS data analysis.
• Knowledge of DNA- and RNA-modifying enzymes.
