Electrical Engineer I (Home Security)

Location: Boston, MA; hybrid schedule with two core office days per week. Travel to manufacturing partners in China 1–3 times per year is required.

Annual base pay: $70,700–$94,300, excluding potential bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Support the design, testing, and documentation of security-focused electronic products under senior engineering guidance.
• Build and run prototypes, troubleshoot issues, and help execute product development from prototyping through testing.
• Analyze design alternatives and surface tradeoffs involving performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
• Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, industrial design, sourcing, product management, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
• Participate in design reviews and prepare technical requirements and review documentation.
• Develop foundational knowledge of emerging technologies, sensors, and manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant industry experience, including internships or co-ops.
• Exposure to designing, building, or testing electronic systems.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from experienced engineers and product managers.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing partners in China 1–3 times per year.
• Interest in developing toward a systems engineering role.

Nice to have

• Coursework or project experience with low-power or battery-operated electronics.
• Familiarity with embedded interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, or USB.
• Exposure to RF technologies such as Sub-GHz, WiFi, or BLE.
