Principal AI Engineer - Context - Agents and Context

Location: Spain; hybrid role

Salary: €80,400–€127,200 EUR base salary per year; no variable compensation.

What you will do

• Own the production improvement loop for the Context Engine, diagnosing failure modes in extraction automations, retrieval tools, memory, and agent behaviour.
• Define safe iteration practices for prompts, skills, and automations, including versioning, staged and shadow evaluation, regression coverage, and guardrails.
• Design telemetry for agent traces, tool calls, and knowledge retrieval, connecting data in hirify.globalsearch to evaluations, dashboards, and feedback loops.
• Partner with data scientists on golden datasets and evaluators for quality, latency, and cost.
• Write production code and technical proposals while reviewing designs and pull requests and mentoring engineers in eval-driven development.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including recent experience shipping and operating AI-driven products on production traffic.
• Experience diagnosing agent or LLM behaviour from traces and user feedback, designing evaluations, shipping fixes, and measuring outcomes.
• Direct experience building agents with state and memory and safely iterating on prompts, skills, and tool behaviour in production.
• Strong backend engineering skills in Python or TypeScript, including APIs, stateful workflows, data pipelines, and production services.
• Experience with MCP, AI telemetry, end-to-end product experiments, public APIs, and evolving external data models.
• Ability to collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers in a distributed, async-first environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangGraph, CrewAI, Claude Agent SDK, or similar agent frameworks.
• Agentic retrieval and knowledge representation experience.
• Practical hirify.globalsearch experience.
