Principal Technical Marketing Engineer (Networking)

Location: San Jose, California, USA; hybrid, on-site three days a week

Base salary: $171,500–$245,000 USD per year, excluding bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead hands-on customer Proof of Value engagements, architectural demonstrations, and pilot evaluations for Zero Trust Branch solutions.
• Design, deploy, and maintain physical and virtual labs that simulate enterprise branch, edge, and retail network topologies.
• Diagnose and resolve routing, segmentation, tunneling, packet-level, latency, MTU, NAT, and firewall traversal issues.
• Create deployment runbooks, reference architectures, white papers, competitive test plans, and solution briefs.
• Deliver technical workshops, webinars, and enablement programs for systems engineers, professional services, and channel partners.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in technical marketing, solutions architecture, or advanced systems engineering.
• Deep expertise in enterprise routing, switching, TCP/IP, L2/L3 segmentation, and tunneling protocols including WireGuard, IPsec, and VxLAN.
• Experience leading customer Proof of Value pilots and architectural evaluations in complex enterprise and distributed edge environments.
• Hands-on experience with bare-metal appliances, ESXi, KVM, EVE-NG, and GNS3.
• Advanced packet analysis using Wireshark, tcpdump, and traffic-generation tools.
• Experience producing technical collateral and delivering enablement sessions; active exploration and practical use of AI tools.

Nice to have

• Python, Bash, infrastructure-as-code, Ansible, Terraform, REST APIs, or other networking workflow automation experience.
• Public cloud networking with AWS, Azure, or GCP, or container networking with Docker and Kubernetes.
• CCIE, CCNP, JNCIP, PCNSE, or experience with retail, kiosk, IoT/OT, cellular WAN, or 5G failover deployments.
