Senior Legal Counsel

Location: Hybrid role based at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, Massachusetts; in-office Tuesday through Thursday and remote Monday and Friday.

Salary: $197,500–$242,500 per year

What you will do

• Provide commercially minded legal advice to executives and business units across merchandising, IT, finance, marketing, analytics, operations, B2B, fuel, and transportation.
• Negotiate complex commercial agreements in line with company practices and risk tolerance.
• Support strategic transactions and other business projects.
• Manage litigation and supervise outside counsel.
• Advise on regulatory compliance, including privacy, payments, and product-specific regulations.
• Create and continuously improve standard agreements and legal processes.

Requirements

• J.D. from a top-tier law school.
• At least 8 years of experience in contract negotiation and complex transactions.
• Admission to the Massachusetts Bar Association or eligibility to practice under MA SJC Rule 4:02 (9).
• Excellent commercial judgment and communication skills.
• Outstanding work ethic and a team-first ethos.

Nice to have

• AmLaw 100 experience.
• Six or more years of in-house legal experience.
