High School ELA Teacher (English Language Arts)

Location: Boston, MA, USA; full-time, onsite teaching role.

Salary: $71,000–$116,000 per year. Starting pay depends on teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure.

What you will do

• Teach a shared high school literature curriculum using inclusive texts and preparing students for AP, SAT, and collegiate-level coursework.
• Develop students’ independent and collaborative reading, writing, discussion, and evidence-based reasoning skills.
• Facilitate student-led discourse and help students analyze literature, arguments, and rhetoric.
• Review student comprehension, writing, work samples, and assessments to adapt lessons and differentiate instruction.
• Collaborate with department and grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and school leadership.
• Build supportive relationships with students and families and contribute to school-wide culture and professional development.

Requirements

• Academic expertise in humanities, English, social sciences, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 before employment begins.
• Demonstrated commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development, especially in urban K–12 communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Massachusetts educator licensure or successful completion of the required MTEL exams is required.
• Teachers assigned to English learners must earn the Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion endorsement within the required first-year period.
• Ability to collaborate, learn independently, apply feedback, and support student outcomes.
