What you will do

• Teach foundational middle school mathematics, including ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, and the number system.
• Use the in-house Common Core State Standards-based curriculum and culturally responsive problem-solving activities.
• Motivate students to think critically, persevere through challenging problems, and develop confidence in mathematics.
• Analyze student work samples and assessments with the principal or instructional coach and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Build positive relationships with students and families and coordinate resources to support learning needs.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams through professional development, coaching, mentorship, and school-wide meetings.

Requirements

• Demonstrated commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Interest in impacting K–12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Academic expertise in mathematics, science, technology, engineering, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 before employment begins.
• Teaching certification is not required at hire, but Massachusetts certification tests must be passed to meet state requirements.
• Commonwealth charter teachers must hold an appropriate Massachusetts educator license or pass the required MTELs, including Communications and Literacy, Subject Specific, and SEI requirements.
