Thermodynamic Development Dyno Technician (Marine Propulsion)

Location: Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States; hybrid workplace. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, and visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $54,300–$75,400 annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Conduct engine dynamometer testing to optimize base engine hardware and calibrations for power, emissions, fuel economy, and combustion stability.
• Rig engines in dynamometer cells and install or connect instrumentation.
• Perform engine maintenance, including oil changes, valve adjustments, spark plug replacement, and oil sampling.
• Install and remove engine components such as cylinder heads, cams, exhaust systems, and sensors.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, engine, and dynamometer-cell issues.
• Fabricate fixtures and test parts, route lines, maintain test areas, and support a safe team environment.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of internal combustion engine systems and proven experience diagnosing and resolving engine-related issues.
• Experience using precision tools and equipment, including torque wrenches, borescopes, and calipers.
• Strong computer skills and excellent attention to detail in written logs and data documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, willingness to learn, and ability to mentor others.
• Ability to lift moderate weight.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; an associate degree in an engineering or technical field is preferred.

Nice to have

• Basic machining, welding, and fabrication experience.
• Experience with dynamometer testing, engine performance, emissions, or tuning.
• AVL Puma software experience.
