What you will do

• Teach an inclusive, culturally responsive English Language Arts curriculum focused on literature, writing, reading comprehension, and discourse.
• Guide students in analyzing literary and non-narrative texts, assessing author purpose, writing across genres, and participating in student-led discussions.
• Create a safe classroom environment that supports students' authentic voices, reading interests, and social-emotional development.
• Analyze student work and assessment data with school leaders and instructional coaches, then differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Build relationships with students and families and collaborate with grade-level colleagues to support academic goals.
• Participate in professional development, mentorship, coaching, and weekly school-wide meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 before employment begins.
• Academic expertise in Humanities, English, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to students' social-emotional and academic development, particularly in urban K-12 communities.
• Prior teaching experience is preferred; candidates without certification may be hired initially.
• Teachers must hold an appropriate Massachusetts educator's license or pass the required MTEL examinations, including Communications and Literacy, Subject Specific, and SEI requirements.
• Teachers assigned to English learners must earn the Massachusetts SEI endorsement within the required first-year period.
