Materials & Processes Engineer I (Aerospace) (Materials, NDE, Additive Manufacturing): Developing and qualifying materials, products, and processes for reusable Terran R rockets with an accent on material characterization, flight qualification, and manufacturing process improvement. Focus on statistically driven experiments, failure analysis, fracture control, and cross-functional engineering for vehicle reuse.

Salary: $90,000–$136,000 USD annually

hirify.global develops Terran R rockets and manufacturing systems to deliver customer payloads to orbit and support reusable launch operations.

What you will do

  • Own materials and processes for reusable Terran R products, engineering disciplines, and materials.
  • Qualify materials and products for flight and reuse.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards.
  • Lead statistically driven experimental design and process improvement campaigns.
  • Collaborate with materials, laboratory, design, manufacturing, quality, fracture control, and leadership teams.
  • Support material selection, allowables development, inspections, qualification, flight operations, failure analysis, and reuse.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials science, materials engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant materials engineering experience; leveling may be adjusted for candidates with more experience.
  • Experience with material selection, qualification, damage tolerance, inspections, risk assessments, and failure analysis.
  • Accountability, collaboration, execution, and the ability to build strong interdisciplinary relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with continuously evolving aerospace products and processes.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace products, materials, and processes.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing, casting, forging, rolling, extrusion, heat treating, welding, coatings, passivation, and refurbishment.
  • Hands-on experience with aluminum, steel, nickel, and titanium alloys, structural composites, adhesives, sealants, thermal protection systems, and coatings.
  • Experience with non-destructive evaluation, fracture control, corrosion, and statistical data analysis.
