Mechanical Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Englewood, Colorado, United States; on-site. The role involves hands-on work in laboratory, cleanroom, and manufacturing environments. Applicants must be authorized to work with U.S. ITAR-controlled space technology.

Salary: $81,000–$122,000 per year.

What you will do

• Define test requirements, environmental conditions, instrumentation, equipment, facility needs, ground support equipment, safety reviews, and logistics.
• Develop, review, and execute test plans, procedures, verification documentation, and test reports for vehicles, subsystems, and components.
• Conduct structural, propulsion, and other hardware tests as a Test Engineer and Certified Test Conductor; certification is provided on the job.
• Design and oversee fabrication of test tooling and fixtures, and maintain test equipment, instrumentation, laboratories, and procedures.
• Collect and analyze test data, assess requirement compliance, and provide recommendations to engineering leadership and program stakeholders.
• Investigate test failures and hardware anomalies, implement corrective actions, resolve non-conformances, and maintain configuration control.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least two years of experience in aerospace, defense, pressurized systems, high-reliability hardware testing, integration, manufacturing, or verification; substantial collegiate project experience may count.
• Experience developing and executing test plans, procedures, verification documentation, and test reports.
• Hands-on experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Working knowledge of Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB for scripting or automation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, accountability, and integrity.

Nice to have

• Experience with aerospace qualification and acceptance testing, requirements traceability, or pressurized testing and test stands.
• Familiarity with NASA-STD-7000, SMC-S-016, SSCMAN 91-710, MIL-STD-810, AS9100, ISO, or quality-control standards.
• Experience with National Instruments data acquisition equipment and hardware manufacturing process improvement.
