Senior Mechanical Engineer (Sustaining) (Additive Manufacturing)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; 5 days per week in the Sunnyvale office. Some travel to the Santa Clara manufacturing facility is required.

Salary: $137,600–$206,400 per year, with a midpoint of $172,000.

What you will do

• Own the design, architecture, testing, and production release of complex mechanical parts and subassemblies.
• Lead new product introduction, product variations, feature development, and long-term production adaptation.
• Perform tolerance, safety, thermal, stress, fatigue, lifetime, manufacturability, failure-mode, and cost analyses.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Electrical, Optical, Software, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, Production, and Field Service teams.
• Create engineering requirements, specifications, and documentation, and troubleshoot assembly and field issues.
• Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure product quality and performance.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience taking mechanical designs from concept to production.
• Experience with engineering analysis, material selection, and product quality methods including GD&T, DFMEA, and SPC.
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, plastic injection molding, casting, and CNC machining.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams, driving schedules, and presenting design decisions to leadership.
• Portfolio submitted together with the resume.

• Experience in a production environment and comfort working with technicians on the manufacturing floor and in the lab.
