Metrology Engineer (Additive Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Develop, program, and execute structured light scanning and CMM inspection programs for complex additive manufacturing components.
• Perform high-precision 3D optical, laser, and tactile measurements while calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting metrology equipment.
• Analyze 3D scan data, compare physical parts with CAD models, and generate inspection reports using nominal-to-actual comparisons and GD&T principles.
• Investigate dimensional non-conformances, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and maintain traceable metrology datasets.
• Optimize inspection workflows to reduce cycle times, increase throughput, and support component delivery schedules.
• Partner with design, production, engineering, and quality teams to provide design-for-inspection feedback, establish SOPs, and train production personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in metrology engineering, quality inspection, or high-precision manufacturing.
• Experience with 3D optical or structured light scanning systems, GOM/ZEISS ATOS, CMM inspection programs, and GD&T principles.
• Proficiency with GOM Inspect, PolyWorks, or Geomagic, plus knowledge of NX and SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of additive manufacturing, SPC, data analysis, root cause analysis, technical documentation, and reporting.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Nice to have

• ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
• GD&T Professional Certification under ASME Y14.5.
• ZEISS/GOM Scanning Certified Specialist certification.
• Additional experience may qualify candidates for a higher level.
