Senior Fire Protection Consultant/Engineer

Location: Mountlake Terrace, Washington, United States; the role supports work in the Pacific Northwest, ideally near Portland, Oregon or Bellevue, Washington.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Manage and implement a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects.
• Conduct building and fire code reviews, plan reviews, analyses, site visits, and field inspections.
• Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, alternative solutions, and building design reports.
• Prepare and peer review technical project reports.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineering design teams, clients, industry professionals, and authorities having jurisdiction.
• Support business development and client relationship management efforts for 10–20% of the role.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in code consulting, fire suppression and alarm system design, or performance-based strategies in a project design environment.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, preferably fire protection, architecture, or a related field.
• Registered Professional Engineer license, NICET certification, or equivalent required.
• Experience with building code concepts and equivalencies, building plan reviews, field reviews, and inspections.
• Proven project management experience and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with industry professionals, trades, design teams, and jurisdictional authorities.

• Knowledge or experience in fire alarm and fire sprinkler design.
