Associate Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in Palo Alto, California, with onsite work one day per week. Remote work is available from anywhere in the U.S.

Salary: $138,700–$153,300 annual base salary in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you will do

• Build and ship smaller, well-scoped features within an established multi-product platform.
• Write and test production code against acceptance criteria, including positive and negative unit-test cases.
• Submit clear pull requests, review teammates’ code, and apply feedback to improve technical skills.
• Work with senior engineers and product managers to design solutions, evaluate tradeoffs, and understand business impact.
• Participate in sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives, and technical design reviews.
• Communicate progress, risks, and blockers while following standards for documentation, monitoring, and operational readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0–2 years of professional software engineering experience, including internships or co-op experience.
• Foundational object-oriented programming knowledge in a language such as TypeScript, Python, Ruby, Java, or C#.
• Working knowledge of data structures, data modeling, APIs, and relational databases.
• Familiarity with unit testing, including stubbing or mocking dependencies.
• Clear communication skills, willingness to seek mentorship, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Exposure to design patterns or a statically typed language such as Java, C#, or Kotlin.
• Experience with A/B testing, data-driven experimentation, or analytics tools such as PostHog, Segment, or Amplitude.
• Exposure to AI/ML-powered personalization or recommendation features.
• Coursework, internship, or side-project experience in fintech, lending, or another regulated industry.
