Intermediate Software Engineer (AI)

Location: HQ - San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 per year, plus eligible discretionary annual cash and restricted stock unit bonus targets of 10% each.

What you will do

• Map operational workflows with business and operations stakeholders and identify opportunities for automation, tooling, and AI.
• Build production-grade internal applications and dashboards in Retool for case management, review queues, approvals, and operational visibility.
• Architect n8n workflows for data movement, notifications, approvals, integrations, error handling, and alerting.
• Integrate LLM and AI capabilities for classification, extraction, summarization, and triage.
• Design APIs, C#/.NET integration layers, and Microsoft SQL Server schemas connecting internal tools with core banking, loan origination, CRM, and third-party systems.
• Own solutions from prototype through pilot, hardening, documentation, and handoff or ongoing maintenance while reviewing junior engineers' code and designs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5+ years of experience building internal tools and automations with Retool, n8n, or similar platforms.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs or AI models into real workflows.
• Strong SQL and Microsoft SQL Server skills, including schema design, normalization, indexing, query optimization, and stored procedures.
• Practical C#/.NET experience building and consuming APIs, plus scripting with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders, handle ambiguity, iterate quickly, and meet banking security, data governance, and compliance requirements.
