Principal AI Engineer (Agents and Context)

Location: Hybrid role available in Canada, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, or the United Kingdom. Listed locations include Athens, Barcelona, Dublin, London, and Madrid.

Salary: $154,000–$243,600 CAD base salary annually, plus eligibility for hirify.global's stock program and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the production improvement loop for the Context Engine, including extraction automations, retrieval tools, memory, and agent behaviour.
• Define safe iteration practices for prompts, skills, automations, versioning, rollouts, regression coverage, and staged or shadow evaluations.
• Design telemetry for agent traces, tool calls, and knowledge retrieval, and connect it to hirify.globalsearch, evaluations, dashboards, and feedback loops.
• Partner with data scientists on golden datasets and evaluators covering quality, latency, and cost.
• Review designs and pull requests, mentor engineers in evaluation-driven development, and write technical proposals that shape the roadmap.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including recent experience shipping and operating AI-driven products in production.
• Demonstrated experience diagnosing agent or LLM behaviour from traces and user feedback, designing evaluations, shipping fixes, and measuring outcomes.
• Direct experience building stateful agents with memory and safely iterating on prompts, skills, and tool behaviour.
• Experience with MCP, public APIs, evolving data models, AI telemetry, and end-to-end product experimentation.
• Strong backend engineering skills in Python or TypeScript, including APIs, stateful workflows, data pipelines, and production services.
• Ability to collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers in a distributed, async-first environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangGraph, CrewAI, Claude Agent SDK, or similar agent frameworks.
• Agentic retrieval and knowledge representation experience.
• Practical hirify.globalsearch experience.
