Mechanical Designer II (Lunar Permanence)

Location: Greater Seattle Area, United States

Base pay: $34.39–$48.14 per hour for California and Washington applicants; $31.53–$44.13 per hour for Colorado applicants. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

• Prepare and evolve mechanical design layouts and create and maintain detail part and assembly drawings.
• Use CAD and Product Lifecycle Management tools to document engineering designs and maintain released datasets.
• Support structural, mechanical, fluids, electronic, and harness design for lunar transportation systems.
• Apply company drafting, design, and parts standards while balancing cost, schedule, and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams on materials, processes, hardware selection, and producible designs.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
• At least 2 years of experience in aerospace development or a similar industry.
• Proficiency with Creo Parametric and Windchill drawing generation and release processes.
• Experience with standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis according to ASME Y14.5.
• Experience selecting aerospace hardware, fasteners, bushings, washers, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, refugee, or asylee under export control regulations.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
• Four or more years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of fluids and avionics components, brackets, and secondary support structures.
• Experience routing harnesses, tubes, and pipes in Creo.
• Knowledge of fluid-system installation and fabrication methods, including fittings, connections, fasteners, and welding.
