Assistant/Associate Professor and Glassell Endowed Chair (Quail Research)

Location: Kingsville, Texas, United States. Full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty appointment.

What you will do

• Develop and lead an extramurally funded quail and upland gamebird research program, with a focus on Texas.
• Conduct innovative and applied research in wildlife, rangeland science, quail ecology, and gamebird management.
• Teach one graduate-level and one undergraduate-level course annually.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research and professional development.
• Communicate research findings through publications, presentations, media contributions, and stakeholder engagement.
• Participate in professional service within the department, college, university, and broader natural-resources community.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in ecology, wildlife science, rangeland science, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
• Evidence of scholarly work in wildlife or rangeland sciences, quail or upland gamebird management and ecology, ornithology, or ecology.
• At least 18 graduate-level hours in wildlife and rangeland science or related ecosystem-management disciplines.
• Demonstrated potential to attract extramural funding and build a nationally recognized research program.
• Ability to teach wildlife and rangeland ecology and management and communicate effectively with students, professionals, landowners, agencies, and scientists.
• Employment requires export-control authorization and compliance with applicable state and federal requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience researching upland gamebirds in working landscapes.
• Strong quantitative skills.
• Experience collaborating with private landowners, natural-resource organizations, faculty, and students.
• Postdoctoral experience, including university teaching or research.
