Experience Design Lead: Bond and Specialty Insurance (AI)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Salary: $109,300–$180,200 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead experience design across underwriting, broker, policyholder, and employee-facing products and services.
• Shape product and journey vision, strategy, priorities, and organizational decisions earlier in the development process.
• Define experience goals, journey maps, information architecture, personas, scenarios, interactions, content, and visual designs.
• Plan and conduct mixed-method user research and usability testing, synthesize findings, and advocate for research-driven decisions.
• Collaborate with business, product, engineering, data, technology, end users, and external partners across legacy and modern platforms.
• Apply accessibility, brand, design-system, Agile, and Human-Centered Design Double Diamond standards while managing multiple concurrent initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• At least four years of related experience; five years of related experience is preferred.
• Experience in UX or experience design, including research, strategy, and end-to-end delivery.
• Strong design thinking, communication, presentation, collaboration, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Knowledge of design research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, service design, prototyping, accessibility, and WCAG 2.1; proficiency in at least three of these areas.

Nice to have

• Experience designing AI-powered or AI-augmented product experiences.
• Experience with accessibility testing tools such as Axe and screen readers.
• Experience working across complex, multi-channel environments and legacy systems.
