Director, UI/UX (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Chicago, Illinois, or Kansas City, Missouri, United States; four days per week in the office.

Salary: $187,000–$266,200 annual base salary for US locations, plus possible annual incentive compensation and long-term equity participation.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, and grow the global UX organization across design, research, and design systems.
• Set companywide UX strategy, standards, governance, roadmaps, resource allocation, and design quality practices.
• Develop Cboe’s AI-enabled design and delivery strategy, including an agent-consumable component library and AI tooling guardrails.
• Partner with engineering, product, marketing, communications, graphic design, and business leaders on product definition and launches.
• Define UX metrics for usability, accessibility, adoption, and business impact.
• Represent UX in executive reviews, planning cycles, governance forums, and selected high-impact projects.

Requirements

• Degree in HCI, interaction design, graphic design, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge.
• At least 10 years of UX design or research experience, including 3 or more years managing designers or researchers.
• Experience building and leading a UX function, including hiring, performance management, career development, and succession planning.
• Demonstrated leadership of AI-enabled design or delivery initiatives and experience setting AI tooling standards and guardrails.
• Experience owning enterprise design systems, governance, documentation, roadmaps, budgets, vendors, and external agencies.
• Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, modern web architecture, accessibility standards, and regulated or complex business domains.

• Experience in financial services, trading, or another complex regulated domain.
