Director, UI/UX (AI)

Location: Hybrid work from offices in Chicago, Illinois, or Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Salary: $110,500–$157,300 annual base salary for US locations, plus possible annual incentive compensation and long-term equity participation.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, and grow the global UX team across design, research, and design systems.
• Set companywide UX direction, standards, governance, and accessibility practices.
• Own the UX roadmap, prioritize initiatives, allocate resources, and report progress and UX metrics to leadership.
• Develop AI-enabled design and delivery capabilities, including an agent-consumable component library and standards for AI tooling.
• Partner with software engineering, product, marketing, communications, graphic design, and business leaders on product definition and launches.
• Manage external design and development partners and contribute directly to key UX projects when needed.

Requirements

• Degree in HCI, interaction design, graphic design, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge.
• At least 10 years of UX design or research experience, including 3 or more years managing designers or researchers.
• Experience building and leading a UX function, including hiring, performance management, career development, and succession planning.
• Experience leading AI-enabled design or delivery initiatives, setting AI tooling standards and guardrails, and governing enterprise design systems.
• Strong executive communication, roadmap ownership, resource allocation, accessibility, vendor management, and budget ownership experience.
• Good working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, modern front-end delivery, and web platform architecture; financial services, trading, or another regulated domain is preferred.
