Senior Optical Systems Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

What you will do

• Design and develop optical interconnect sub-systems incorporating lasers, optical bridges, high-speed optical and electrical I/O, SerDes, power delivery, packaging, fiber attach, and thermal integration.
• Drive optical technologies including OSFP, XPO, CPO, diffractive waveguide optical bridges, GRIN, and TIR approaches into system designs.
• Translate system requirements into optical, electrical, mechanical, thermal, and packaging specifications.
• Design test methodologies and run optical and electro-optical characterization experiments covering alignment, coupling, loss, and system validation.
• Lead OSAT and ODM partners through design reviews, qualification testing, and the transition from prototypes to full production.
• Build and maintain an automated optical laboratory, including high-throughput measurement workflows and experiment-control tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Optics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
• 10+ years of optics development experience spanning optical, electrical, thermal, mechanical, and packaging implementation.
• Experience taking hardware products from concept through shipped production.
• Experience with Co-Packaged Optics, Near-Packaged Optics, Optical Compute Interconnect, and Linear Pluggable Optics.
• Experience driving OSAT or ODM suppliers through design and qualification.
• Hands-on experience with link budgets, insertion and return loss, OSNR, eye diagrams, jitter, BER, FEC margining, measurement data organization, and technical reporting.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Optics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
• Experience designing or building automated optical laboratory instrumentation.
• Python or MATLAB programming for laboratory automation or data analysis.
• Working knowledge of high-speed design and signal and power integrity.
