What you will do

  • Prepare semiconductor samples for SEM and TEM analysis using cleaving, polishing, chemical etching, and Focused Ion Beam milling.
  • Perform routine SEM failure analysis to support yield, reliability, manufacturing, technology development, and customer investigations.
  • Operate and maintain SEM, FIB, and sample preparation equipment while collecting images and analytical data.
  • Use image analysis, measurement software, LIMS, and established reporting methods to document technical work.
  • Improve SEM and TEM sample preparation workflows and support preventive maintenance and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and laboratory staff while following cleanroom, laboratory, quality, and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in engineering, physics, materials science, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, chemistry, mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent military technical training.
  • At least 3–4 years of relevant technical laboratory, manufacturing, machining, microscopy, or semiconductor industry experience.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn and operate complex analytical equipment, follow detailed procedures, and work precisely with delicate samples.
  • Fluent written and verbal English required.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds periodically, work extended periods with laboratory equipment, and wear required PPE.

Nice to have

  • Experience operating SEM, FIB, TEM, or other analytical microscopy systems.
  • Experience in a semiconductor fab, cleanroom, analytical laboratory, or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with SEM imaging, materials characterization, semiconductor devices, or semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with precision cleaving, polishing, mounting, sectioning, thinning, metallographic preparation, or site-specific cross-sectioning.
  • Experience using image analysis and measurement software and documenting technical work.
