Principal AI Architect and Enterprise AI Transformation Lead

Location: Ashburn, Virginia, USA; local candidates required; onsite five days per week for the first year. Work hours align with the Eastern Time client workday.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise AI strategy, architecture, adoption roadmaps, and technical governance across programs and customer environments.
• Identify mission-focused AI opportunities and evaluate models, platforms, frameworks, security, scalability, cost, and implementation risk.
• Design, code, test, and demonstrate AI and machine learning prototypes, then convert validated solutions into secure production deployments.
• Build enterprise RAG solutions, AI agents, multi-agent workflows, data pipelines, vector databases, APIs, and cloud-native AI services.
• Architect hybrid-cloud, multi-cloud, and on-premises AI platforms and implement MLOps and GenAIOps lifecycle pipelines.
• Lead architecture reviews, customer workshops, executive briefings, business development solutioning, and technical mentoring.

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, systems engineering, data engineering, or related disciplines.
• 8+ years designing and delivering AI, machine learning, data science, or advanced analytics solutions, including hands-on enterprise AI application development.
• Principal-level experience designing, coding, prototyping, deploying, and strategically leading enterprise-scale AI solutions.
• Advanced Python development experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models, prompt engineering, RAG, tool calling, AI agents, and orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with AI platforms and frameworks such as Azure AI, AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, Databricks, MLflow, Hugging Face, LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex, plus Docker, Kubernetes, APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and cloud-native development.
• DHS CBP or TS/SCI clearance is required; local candidates must work onsite in Ashburn five days per week during the first year. A bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field is required.

• Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience applying commercial AI product-development practices in federal, national security, regulated, or mission-critical environments.
• Active security clearance.
