AI Software Architect

Location: Rockville, Maryland, United States; on-site. Travel may be required across the United States. Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance is required.

Salary: $122,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Set standards and provide technical direction for AI and machine learning implementation.
• Lead application and feature development, including interface specifications, design reviews, reusable code, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate developers and DBAs throughout enterprise application development, enhancement, and maintenance.
• Guide Agile Scrum activities and collaborate with stakeholders on requirements and business process reengineering.
• Design, implement, and optimize scalable applications, continuous integration pipelines, security, and data protection measures.
• Mentor developers and provide cross-training on engineering standards and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field, with 10 years of relevant experience; degrees may be substituted for 8 years of experience.
• Experience in AI and machine learning engineering, generative AI, large language models, and AI solution architecture.
• Experience with AI/ML prototyping, testing, evaluation, performance assessment, monitoring, and production integration.
• 10 years of full-lifecycle application development leadership and experience with Agile/Lean, continuous deployment, automated testing, and DevSecOps.
• Knowledge of cloud-native system design and responsible AI, information security, privacy, documentation, and technical risk management.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance and work on-site in Rockville, Maryland.

Nice to have

• Programming experience with Java, Python, JavaScript, C, or C++.
• Knowledge of database systems and cloud platforms.
• Experience presenting proposals to senior government officials.
• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
