Automation Technician 2nd Shift (Robotics)

Location: Champaign, Illinois, United States; onsite at the Champaign facility. Second shift: 2:30 p.m.–10:30 p.m.; flexible hours, weekends, and on-call shifts may be required. Relocation is not offered.

Salary: $23.05–$29.35 per hour, plus a $1.50 per-hour second-shift premium.

What you will do

• Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, control, and facility automation systems.
• Install, calibrate, and repair conveyor systems, automated machinery, sensors, and computerized control systems.
• Lead preventive maintenance, conduct inspections, respond to emergency failures, and minimize operational downtime.
• Perform root-cause analysis and recommend equipment and system improvements.
• Mentor maintenance team members and provide technical guidance and training.
• Document maintenance activities, manage parts inventory, and coordinate specialized work with contractors and service providers.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a logistics warehouse or industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, automation, troubleshooting, and repair skills.
• Experience with building automation systems, control systems, and industrial machinery.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, test instruments, and maintenance management software.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and the ability to follow safe work practices, including work involving hazardous materials and waste.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, work independently, and collaborate with contractors and internal teams.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in facilities management, mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Electrical or mechanical maintenance certification.
• Experience with E-Maintenance, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, or supervisory and technician-training responsibilities.
