Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Centres)

Location: Fully remote, with the role listed in Dublin, Ireland

hirify.global's Outsourced Technical Services department supports project delivery for large-scale engineering and data centre projects.

What you will do

• Develop mechanical engineering designs for data centre and mission-critical facilities from concept through detailed design and project closeout.
• Design and coordinate HVAC, chilled water, condenser water, CRAH/CRAC, cooling tower, pump, and related mechanical systems.
• Prepare calculations, equipment sizing, layouts, specifications, schedules, technical reports, tender documentation, and bid evaluations.
• Coordinate with electrical, architectural, structural, and commissioning disciplines throughout project delivery.
• Evaluate vendor equipment and review supplier submittals while supporting value engineering, reliability, energy efficiency, and maintainability objectives.
• Provide technical support during construction, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, handover, design reviews, and stakeholder meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical building services or mission-critical facility design.
• Demonstrated experience delivering mechanical designs for data centre projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and chilled water cooling infrastructure.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering project teams and managing multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination platforms, together with knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Nice to have

• Chartered Engineer status or progress toward chartership.
• Experience with hyperscale or colocation data centre environments.
• Knowledge of sustainability, decarbonisation, and energy-efficient cooling technologies.
• Familiarity with CFD modelling, energy modelling, and thermal analysis tools.
• Experience supporting commissioning and integrated systems testing activities.
