Professional Engineer, Mechanical Engineering (Mining)

Location: Based in Duluth, MN or Bloomington, MN, with residence within regular commuting distance; hybrid schedule of typically three office days and two remote days. Regular travel to offices, project or client locations, and conferences is required.

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of multidisciplinary heavy industrial projects from conception through construction.
• Lead project teams delivering facility design, demolition, balance-of-plant, and material-handling projects.
• Own the technical, quality, and financial aspects of assigned projects.
• Scope requirements, lead mechanical design, verify calculations, validate equipment sizing and selection, and develop drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Coordinate design standards with architecture, civil, electrical, and structural disciplines.
• Support market development, client relations, proposals, presentations, and mentoring of less experienced professionals.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Professional Engineer registration and 10 or more years of progressive technical design experience.
• Experience with industrial ventilation and dust collection systems, HVAC, pumping, or process piping.
• Experience designing systems for mining or other heavy industrial facilities.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary projects with annual service fees exceeding $300,000.
• Valid driver’s license, compliant driving record, strong written and verbal communication skills, and availability to travel as required.

Nice to have

• Professional registration in multiple states.
• Experience with proposals, mechanical design fee estimates, and coaching or mentoring engineers.
• Experience designing boiler, chiller, district heating and cooling, laboratory ventilation, or fire protection systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or Plant 3D.
